Yes, let’s play some kubb! Who’s in?

I’d like to plan some events this fall, and see who shows up. Who know’s, maybe even a tournament. I’ve found some kindred souls – so let’s get this thing off the ground.

Tournament Date: May 26th, 2011 @ 12:30 PM – Nordonia High School Stadium

These results are preliminary, as the tournament got cut off short due to time restrictions.

Here are the current standings:

Pokemon Masters – 4 wins, 0 losses
Chicas – 2 wins, 2 losses
Minorities – 2 wins, 2 losses
Team 2 – 2 wins, 1 loss
Swamp People – 0 wins, 3 losses
Choot ‘Em – 1 win, 3 losses

This tournament may continue if time permits…

NEOKC Launches!

Northeast Ohio Kubb Club has officially launched as of today, May 23rd, 2011.

What is kubb?

Kubb is a lawn game where the object is to knock over wooden blocks by throwing wooden sticks at them.Kubb can be simply described as a combination of bowling and horseshoes. Today’s version originated on the island of Gotland, Sweden.

Rules vary from country to country and from region to region, but the ultimate object of the game is to knock the “king” over, before the opponent does. This, combined with the fact that there is a certain level of strategy that can be used by players, has led some players and kubb fans to nickname the game “Viking chess.”
